What to Stay Away From at Dunkin’ Donuts
Need some help figuring out which foods are keto and which aren’t? Low-carb eating can be challenging, but it doesn’t have to be. Check out this quick advice on things to avoid at Dunkin’ Donuts, as well as our complete list of keto fast food options.
- Donuts– This is a no-brainer, but don’t do it!
- Flavor Swirls are the sugary counterpart to flavor shots. Put them in the same category as normal sugar syrup pumps.
- Don’t confuse refreshers with iced tea when thinking of refreshers. Refreshers, unlike iced tea (which is generally unsweetened), are sugary drinks. Each medium drink contains between 20 and 35 grams of sugar.
- Steamed Milk– Steamed milk includes a lot more carbs than dunkin’s cream or coconut milk, so you’ll want to avoid the extra 12g of carbs per cup.
- Whipped Cream– Whipped cream is tasty and keto-friendly in moderation, but the cream at Dunkin’ Donuts is sweetened and contains more sugar than you need.
- Buns and Wraps– If you want a breakfast sandwich or wrap, make sure to request one without a bun.
At Dunkin Donuts, Here’s How to Stay Keto
Do you want to make the finest keto Dunkin Donuts you can? Here are some helpful hints for ordering keto-friendly alternatives at Dunkin’ Donuts. Start by following the keto diet’s rules:
- Only ordering plain coffee beverages and then personalizing them as needed. The days of ordering sweet holiday drinks and limited-edition lattes are long gone. That sweet iced coffee would be a no-no on the keto diet.
- Order all iced teas and coffees without sugar– This is usually standard procedure, but if you aren’t attentive, baristas may add sweetness to your iced coffee or iced tea.
- Skip the bun when it comes to food!– Breakfast bagels and sausage, egg, and cheese breakfast sandwiches should be avoided. Instead, go for just the meat, egg, and cheese, and skip the extra carbs.
- Make sure your flavor shots are unsweetened when ordering– we’ll go over this more below, but Dunkin’ employs keto-friendly flavor shots instead of sugar-free syrups. To avoid any sugar confusion, make sure you still say you want the unsweetened french vanilla, hazelnut, or blueberry flavor shots.
That’s our finest ordering advice, so you can go in like a pro. To get the most out of your keto experience, make sure to look through our list of things to avoid.

Coffee Drinks for Beginners
This section is for those who enjoy a hot coffee with cream or a latte as a low-carb beverage. We’ve broken down all of the total and net carbs, as well as the different types of milk and cream to order.
- A Coffee with Cream (Size-Medium) contains 90 calories, 9 grams of fat, 1 gram of carbohydrates, 0 grams of fiber, 1 gram of sugar, 2 grams of protein, and 1 gram of net carbohydrates.
- A Coconut Milk Macchiato (Size-Medium) contains 40 calories, 3 grams of fat, 3 grams of carbohydrates, 0 grams of fiber, 0 grams of protein, and 3 grams of net carbohydrates. – You can make this drink using whole milk, but it will have 10g net carbohydrates, thus we recommend coconut milk.
- Coconut Milk Latte (Size-Medium) includes 50 calories, 4.5 grams of fat, 3 grams of carbohydrates, 0 grams of fiber, 1 gram of protein, and 3 grams of net carbohydrates.
As you can see, we use coconut milk to manufacture our keto Dunkin Donuts coffees. Because their coconut milk is unsweetened, it’s a wonderful low-carb alternative. Below, you’ll find more information on milk options.
Milk Alternatives
While most coffee shops sell oat and almond milk, the almond milk sold by Dunkin Donuts is sweetened and so not sugar-free.
They also don’t use traditional heavy cream, instead opting for heavy cream that is half cream, half and half. That means coconut milk and cream will be your major keto options for that great iced coffee.
However, we wanted to include all milk options in case you wanted to know how many net carbs are in a cup of coffee with milk. In a medium coffee, each type of milk:
- Cream provides 85 calories, 9 grams of fat, 2 grams of carbs, 2 grams of protein, and 2 grams of net carbs.
- Whole milk contributes 45 calories, 2 grams of fat, 4 grams of carbohydrates, 2 grams of protein, and 3 net carbs.
- Skim Milk: Although skim milk is usually a last resort, it has identical macronutrients to full milk, with 40 calories, 0 grams of fat, 7 grams of carbohydrates, 2 grams of protein, and 7 net carbs.
- Coconut milk contains 15 calories, 1 gram of fat, 0 gram of carbohydrates, 1 gram of protein, and 0 net carbs.
- We don’t consider almond milk to be an option because it isn’t available at most Dunkin Donuts, and it isn’t available in a sugar-free variety.
Adding a dash of milk to your cold brew coffee won’t add too many carbs, but if you’re making a latte that’s mostly milk, you might want to use cream instead of skim milk.
Flavoring Low-Carb Drinks
Don’t like the high sugar, high carb macros in your lattes and drinks? Learn how to flavor your favorite low-carb beverages so you can stay on track while eating at Dunkin’ Donuts.
Syrups
Unlike most coffee chains, Dunkin Donuts employs flavor shots rather than syrups. They do, however, come in both sweetened and sugar-free varieties.
Shots of Flavor
Dunkin Donuts makes keto simple with their flavor shots. These sugar-free flavor shots are ideal for mixing into coffee or tea.
These sugar-free flavor shots, on the other hand, are not the same as their flavor swirls. Although the flavors are comparable, the flavor swirls are not low carb or sugar free.
Low-carb flavor shots possibilities include:
- French Vanilla- This flavor is ideal for a traditional latte or hot coffee served with steamed coconut milk.
- Hazelnut is delicious on its own or with a caramel flavor shot in an iced coffee.
- Caramel- Get into the Christmas mood with a sugar-free, low-carb caramel macchiato.
- Toasted Almond- Another delicious Christmas treat, or a cold brew coffee mix-in on a regular basis.
- Blueberry- Do you want to try something new? This blueberry shot is a low-carb addition to your unsweetened iced green tea. It imparts a light, fruity flavor that is extremely pleasant.
- Raspberry- If you prefer raspberry tea but don’t want all the sugar, this is another fantastic option. Enjoy the delightful refreshing flavor of a shot of iced green tea (unsweetened).
- Coconut- This one can be used in a coffee or an unsweetened iced tea.
Keep in mind that flavor shots and flavor swirls are two very distinct things! Both have the same flavors, but you want the sugar-free version (flavor shots).

For a low-carb option, order any other sandwiches or wraps without the bread. Limited-edition goods, such as their sourdough breakfast sandwiches, are excellent alternatives to buns.
Dunkin Donuts Sides and Snacks
Unfortunately, there aren’t many low-carb side options at Dunkin’ Donuts. There are a couple snack wrap and rollup choices that don’t require the tortilla, but they’re basically leftover ham and cheese folded together.
Their tiny bag of munching bacon is their one shining splendor snack. They have a sweet black pepper pepper bacon that has 190 calories, 12 grams of fat, 10 grams of carbohydrates, 9 grams of sugar, and 10 grams of protein per 8 pieces.
This bacon isn’t quite keto-friendly, but if you only eat half of it, it’s still low-carb (5 net carbs). It’s better to limit yourself to a tiny portion of this bacon or request that the bag be replaced with plain unseasoned bacon.
Dunkin’ also offers an avocado spread similar to guacamole, which is a wonderful way to add some fat to any breakfast sandwich you purchase.
