History Book Plans Moving Right Along

Wednesday, August 8, 2012 - 4:52 PM

Grande Prairie

The history book commemorating the 100th Anniversary of Grande Prairie is moving along nicely - Committee decided on a firm this afternoon to go before Council at their next meeting in a couple of weeks.

As always, money is an issue, but there are some grants designed specifically for history projects through both the federal and provincial governments says David Olinger, Marketing and Communications Manager for the City.

They're looking into them, but if they can't get the grants, they'll take a page out of a history book produced four years ago.

"There wasn't grants at that time, so what the producers of that book did is that they got sponsors for specific sections of the book, and so that's another way of doing it. Or why not do both, where we would get grants and then also have sections or the whole book sponsored. So that's a possibility as well."

The book would be unveiled at the Homecoming event, which will take place on the August 1st long weekend 2014.
