Microsoft Updates: Windows 10 Redstone 2 and 3 Will Launch in 2017

Redstone 1, the renowned name for the recently-released Windows 10 Anniversary Update, is just the first wave of a longer series which will see more improvements in the future. Nevertheless, it will more advance the core operating system which was launched in July last year.

More than that is the next concrete step to Redstone 2, which as per sources revealed to land in the spring of next year, with more features and enhancements that weren’t included in the first wave.

Microsoft’s recent posts confirm that in 2017 will not bring just one but two major feature updates for Windows 10, which are believed to be the Redstone 2 and Redstone 3.

Major update of 2016

The company did make provisions regarding any specifics but rolled out that the Anniversary Update is the last major update for Windows 10 released this year and now the focus is on the second wave as, since the Anniversary Update, Microsoft has been working on RS2. However, preview builds might be released soon this month, just prior to a public release in 2017.

Explaining further in today’s post,Microsoft stated, “Today’s release of Windows 10, version 1607 is initially considered the Current Branch (CB) and will become Current Branch for Business (CBB) in about four months from today. Windows 10, version 1607 is our third Windows 10 feature update released. Based on feedback from organizations moving to Windows 10, this will be our last feature update for 2016, with two additional feature updates expected in 2017.”

In addition, the second wave of Redstone updates is sketched to be rolled out in the spring of next year, while the third release is highly anticipated to see the daylight in late summer but, apparently, anything may take place because this project has not started yet.

Nevertheless, the second update being worked on undisclosed already will bring more surprising updates for phone users. So, Microsoft wants to focus a bit more on Windows 10 Mobile. But,rumours left no space empty and said, the Surface Phone often referred to Microsoft’s only Windows 10 Mobile device that will launch in the coming years as debut with Redstone 2, so critical is that the company must bring accuracy to this update.
