RCMP in Beaverlodge believe speed and alcohol were factors in a single vehicle rollover north of Hythe late Friday night.

They say an east bound Dodge Caravan rolled into the ditch along Highway 43, about 10 km north of the community at around 11:15 that evening.

The driver wound up being pinned in the vehicle and had to be extracted before being taken to hospital.

There were also two young passengers in the vehicle at the time - a five year old boy who was taken by STARS to hospital, and an 8 year old girl who was not injured.

Police are still investigating but say charges are pending against a 35 year old woman from Bruderheim.
