NewsPioneer Days Set For This Weekend
It's a chance to re-visit the past and some of the activities our ancesters had to do on a daily basis. Pioneer Days go tomorrow and Sunday at the South Peace Centennial Museum near Beaverlodge. Among the demonstrations throughout the festival will be shingle sawing, sock darning, and blacksmithing, just to name a few. Museum society president Elizabeth Sande feels it is important to hold events like Pioneer Days as a way of preserving the past. "A lot of the younger generation have never done these things or seen them done, other than in a museum. Some of us remember washing with a scrub board but there is a limited number of us." Events begin at 8 am both days with a pancake breakfast.
Other highlights include sheep dog trials tomorrow, and horse drawn wagon rides and antique machine parades on Sunday. Most Viewed Stories
