In a decision by the City's community development committee, Nitehawk Recreation Area is expected to get a chunk of money from the City to help with operational costs that are building up.

A recommendation will go before Council at their June 9th meeting to give the group 100 thousand dollars.

General Manager at Nitehawk Duane Johnson says there's one key thing that they're focusing on.

"The key thing is our utilities costs.  We've got to focus on that and try to negotiate cheaper prices, and focus on some of the things that can make us money, and one of them is our Aquatera Tube Zone.  We weren't able to get that open until towards the end of January (last year), and this year we want to have it open as soon as possible."

He adds that they pay a peak rate for electricity all year round, and they've been in talks with ATCO to lower the price they're paying during the summer months.

Chair of the C-D-C John Croken says the money will most likely be taken out of M-S-I funding from the province.
