The Grey Cup is officially in Grande Prairie.

The 103 year old trophy arrived at Grande Prairie airport earlier this afternoon, and will be one of the special guests at tonight's Tailgate Party fundraiser for the Grande Prairie Public School District Education Foundation.

Dennis Dowell has been the official "keeper of the cup" for the past 13 years, after working in the steel industry in Hamilton for 39 years.

He says it's a fantastic job.

"I get to travel all over Canada and meet a lot of wonderful and interesting people.  Everybody is always happy, nobody is ever miserable around the cup.  This piece of silverwear, this museum piece causes so much excitement for so many people."

Dowell says he particularly loves visiting smaller cities - like Grande Prairie - and sharing the history of the trophy.
