NewsLocal Soccer Enthusiasts Expect Youth Enrollment To Jump Following Canada's Bronze Medal In London
Canada's bronze medal win in women's soccer at the London Games has at least one person involved with the sport locally forecasting an increase in the number of young people taking up the sport. Grande Prairie Soccer Association Executive Director Chris Spaidal also thinks the result will lead to the development of more facilities across the country to help further develop the sport. He points to the new County Sportsplex, which will include a half soccer pitch indoors, as something their organization will benefit from. I think it only reinforces the whole need for the facility to come into play, just to help-- like we said-- the paths that the athletes could take and continue to help with their growth and development." The medal was Canada's first in a traditional summer team sport since the 1936 Berlin Games. Most Viewed Stories
