The local jobless rate dropped last month -- at 4.5-percent, the Grande Prairie region's right around the middle of the picture in terms of employment.

Stats-Can's report on June unemployment across the country showed the national rate dipped a tenth of a percent to 7.2-percent.

Here in Alberta, the market shed 8,600 jbs and the unemployment rate ticked up to 4.6-percent -- still the lowest in the country.

Wages continue to grow as well -- at the fastest pace we've seen in nearly three-years.

Wages for permanent employees were up over 3-percent last month as compared to a year ago.
