This is a landmark year for the Relay for Life in Grande Prairie.

The 10th edition of the major fundraiser for the Canadian Cancer Society goes tonight at Legion Field, with 110 teams and close to 15 hundred participants, volunteers, and cancer survivors taking part.

Revenue Development co-ordinator Jaci McNaughton says they are going to mark the anniversary in several ways throughout the night.

"During our opening ceremonies, we are going to have a little bit of a celebration and invite people that have been there for all 10 years to come up and do a little bit of an awards ceremony that way.  And as we go into, we are going to kind of push it back into our fight back ceremony, but we are going to announce so exciting totals of how much we have raised over the last 9 years."

The Grande Prairie Relay for Life is the largest one in all of Alberta and the Northwest Territories.

Organizers have set a fundraising goal of 475 thousand dollars for this years event.
