NewsSTARS Ready For Holiday Weekend
Don't take this the wrong way, but STARS crews really hope they don't see you this weekend. Officials with the air ambulance service are ready to respond tin what is usually a busy time. Spokesman Cam Heke says quadding accidents happen more often at this time of year, and they happen quite a bit in the Peace region. "We have noticed unfortunately a trend that we respond to more all-terrain vehicle related emergencies for some reason in that part of Alberta. You know every area we respond to has a certain type of emergency that we repond to, and certainly we notice all-terrain vehicles up in the Grande Prairie region." 70 percent of traumatic deaths -- that's deaths due to traumatic injuries -- do happen in rural areas outside of hte main population base. Heke says they're not telling campers, boaters and recreators NOT to have fun, they're just asking that they keep safety in mind. Similar StoriesMost Viewed Stories
