Solid Turnout For Health Conversation
About 60 Grande Prairie and area residents showed up to Centre 2000 last night to give their thoughts on the way the province handles health care.
Infrastructure Minister and Grande Prairie Wapiti MLA Wayne Drysdale was there to hear what the public had to say about the Alberta Health Care System.
He was impressed with the amount of high quality disscussion going on.
"Access to the system, lots of talk about Family Care Clinics, and they were talking everything from walk-in clinics to hospitals, and what's the right way to access the health system. And there is lots of discussion about the seniors and the care they are getting and that too so lots of discussion."
Recurring themes of the night seemed to be the lack of professionals in the field, the difficulty recruiting doctors to rural areas and expanding nurses responsibilities to include diagnosis and basic treatment.
He adds they've also seen problems in the area of education because of the vast amount of media out there, and because people use those media differently.
