The Grande Prairie STARS base has it's first supporter on board for a new fundraising initiative.

Fund-A-Flight allows individuals, groups or companies to basically 'sponsor' a mission with a 54-hundred dollar donation -- the rough cost of a single incident response by the STARS team.

Wendy Tindall is the Events Development Officer for the local base:

"We did have an individual by the name of Gary Donohue, who owns and operates Right Now HotShot out of Grande Prairie.  And they were the first donor that came on with the Fund-A-Flight program."

Tindall says Right Now Hotshot will get a plaque marking the date of the mission they sponsored.

STARS must fundraise three out of every four dollars needed to run operations.
