City council have decided to take some time to think about an upcoming recommendation for funding.

The Grande Prairie Friendship Centre was one of the groups to apply, however it was not on the list recommended to Council by the Department of Community Social Development.

The group was seeking funding that would go towards its Housing First initiative:

Reps from the Friendship Centre told council  the city's appeal process to have the request reconsidered is very confusing.

Executive Director of the Centre Kelly Benning says they were not told very much when they were informed the application had not been recommended to Council.

"I was emailed a new RFP [request for proposal] process and told that questions needed to be in writing within a certain amount of time, and you councl not sit down and discuss it."

Benning says the Friendship Centre's Housing First program is all about getting clients into a safe place they can call home before any rehabilitation starts.

The Centre has been operating in the G-P area since 1964.
