A pair of scholarships handed out to local athletes through the city's Pursuit of Excellence committee have new names attached to them.

Mayor Bill Given says the International Excellence scholarship has been re-named in honour of the later Perky McCullough, while the Pursuit of Excellence scholarship will now bear the name of Bob Neufeld. 

"Over the years Bob and Perky have made substantial contributions to the Pusuit of Excellence Committee, but beyond that they also made substantial contributions to the sport community of Grande Prairie. So it was a real honour and a pleasure to be able to recognize those contributions by renaming a scholorship in honour of  each of them." 

Both Neufeld and McCullough were initial members of the Pursuit of Excellence committee back in 1995.

Since then, the POE has handed out over $650,000 in funding to local athletes, coaches and officials.
