The city's General Government Services committee has asked administration to see if there are any areas where they can pull 25 thousand dollars from.

That money would go to the Centre for Research and Innovation to help them maintain their innovation services program.

CRI Director Dr. Bruce Rutley says that program has been funded over the last few years through a Rural Alberta Development Fund grant, which expired last month.

"That was the fuel, if you will, that allowed us to create the robust services that we have come to know and think of as CRI.  So yes, we are looking for replacements for that funding."

The full request was for 50 thousand dollars. The committee decided that the other half should be discussed during budget talks this fall.
