New Line Skateparks have completed their portion of the city's new skateboard park near the Eastlink Centre.

But the park is still not officially open, even though some youth have already started using it.

Sport and Recreation manager Kylee Haining says there is still some landscaping to be done at the site before they can "officially" open the park.

"We have a trail system to put in front of it and then some mulch to put around.  So right now we are not open, and a lot will depend on how quickly we can get all of that landscaping stuff done this week."

Haining says they have no way of keeping kids off the skatepark.

So she asks anyone using it to stay on the cement portion of the park until they are able to move some dirt and make the outer edges safer.
