A number of small but important fixes were brought up to the Public Works Committee this morning at a special meeting.

City Councillor John Croken says that there are speed monitors in the school zone near Swanavon School that haven't worked for six or seven months.

He says those monitors are really important - they make people realize that it's a school zone and to slow down.

"They are to keep people aware that that is a school zone there, and I have had people pass me and you can not be passing and speeding in a speed zone.  Our children are our future and I'll go to any lengths to make sure people do not speed through there."

He also noted that 100th Street next to the school is incredibly bumpy from repair work that's been done, and he's had a ton of people call him asking when that will be fixed.

Croken adds that he wants to do something about the median on 116th street north of Costco, which is over-run with grass and weeds right now - ideas of concrete or trees were thrown around as low maintenance replacements.
