The City of Grande Prairie turns 100 in 2014, and to celebrate, the 100th Anniversary Committee has a bunch of activities planned for the year. One of their ideas to promote our heritage is a history book. Marketing Manager for the City David Olinger says that the birthday was a good time to release the book.
"We'll be focusing in on community builders. The reason we're doing that is we felt at the 100th Anniversary juncture of Grande Prairie, that it would be an appropriate time to capture those stories."
Approval was given by the committee to start searching for a publisher to help with the book. They hope to have it done in time for Homecoming in August of 2014.
