NewsCrime Prevention Hosts Info Night At Eastlink Centre
It'll have a block party feel, and that's kind of the point. On Thursday, Crime Prevention is hosting an evening at the Eastlink Centre to help connect the public with local groups that empower people in their neighbourhoods and help build community -- thus making them safer. From the RCMP, to Block Parents, the GP Youth Council and more -- severla groups are taking part in the casual information evening. Assistant Program Manager Mike Anderson says even he's amazed at the abundance of resources and services available to the public through all of these groups. "An event like this is really focused on getting those people together so they can go out to the community and you know what? I could just even be the connection for people to say 'This is a great city.' There are those things out there that are in need that need a helping hand." Crime Prevention's arranged for door prizes, and kids activities like face-painting to make the evening fun for families. Everything gets started at 4 o'clock Thursday afternoon on the second level at Eastlink Centre. Similar StoriesMost Viewed Stories
