Second Street Theatre will see a number of changes made to it over the next three years, but most of work being done is stuff that members of the public likely will not even notice.

The work - which includes adding dry wall to closets and other areas of the building and installing new outside stairs at fire exits - are being done to bring the downtown facility up to code.

Grande Prairie Live Theatre operates the building on behalf of the city, who owns the facility. General Manager RIck Hryciuk thinks they work very well with the city.

"[We're] keeping it as close to the standards as we can and upgrades and look after it that way. So we're pleased with what's going to happen and it should be good for the next 10 to 12 years I would think."

City council included the renovation work in their latest budget last fall.
