August 10th is the deadline for residents to apply to have their thoughts heard on proposed changes to federal election boundaries.

The Federal Electoral Boundaries Commission of Alberta has proposed dividing the current Peace River riding into two - making a Grande Prairie riding and a Peace River-Westlock constituency.

Current Peace River MP Chris Warkentin encourages the public to make their thoughts known to the commission.

"This commission has a responsibility to listen to the local folks. Their number one responsibility is to make sure that local communities are heard from, that individuals are heard from with regards to this process."

Residents can email their thoughts to the commission at alberta@rfed-rcf.ca.

You can also apply to speak in person at September 10th public hearing here in Grande Prairie by going to www.federal-redistribution.ca.
