NewsGrande Prairie Tourism Officials Happy With Season's Numbers So Far
It's been a good summer so far for staff at the Grande Prairie Tourist Information Centre. Traffic has been steady in and out of the Centre 2000 stop, with guests from other parts of Canada and the United States being the most frequent visitors so far. Grande Prairie Regional Tourism Executive Director Ainsley Lamontagne says a re-occuring comment that she gets from visitors to our area is that they are surprised at how big Grande Prairie is. "Especially when they're coming off the Icefields Parkway they go through Jasper and Hinton, and Grande Cache, and they arrive in Grande Prairie -- they have no idea how big we are and how great our facilities are. So it's not until they get here that they decide to stay a little longer just because our facilities are so good." Lamontagne says their extended hours at the Tourist Info Centre will stay in place until the September long weekend. She also reminds visitors about their weekly Bison BBQ on Wednesday nights, and their Rotary Bus tours, which go every Monday, Tuesday and Thursday nights. Most Viewed Stories
