The second annual Grande Prairie Fire Department Row-A-Thon in support of Dogs With Wings goes this weekend at Save On Foods.

Members of the fire department and other partnering agencies will take turns on the rowing machines from noon tomorrow until noon on Sunday, raising money for the program, that trains service dogs for the elderly, the disabled, and children with autism.

Local fire fighter Ian McDonald says they are looking to build off the success they had last year.

"We raised just over 10 thousand dollars last year, so we are hoping to equal that or exceed that, so that we can put the money towards Mack, the black Labrador Retriever that we sponsor currently."

Both Mack and his younger brother Maverick, who is also currently being trained in our region, will be at the fundraiser tomorrow.

McDonald says Dogs With Wings is also looking for volunteer puppy homes for their dogs training in the area.

Representatives from the organization will also be at Save On Foods this weekend to meet with and answer questions of any prospective families.
