NewsWork Continues On Plans For Grande Prairie's 100th Anniversary
Plans for Grande Prairie's 100th Anniversary Homecoming Celebrations are starting to take shape. Alex Gustafson is the part of the sub-committee organizing the festivities. He says they've got lots of events planned for the event, along with a lasting legacy project to mark the anniversary. But they won't be submitting specific funding requests to the city until the party schedule is firmed up. "We are going to pursue some grants, and anybody knows that you can not ask your dad for your allowance before you get your chores done, and part of that is making sure that we are doing the right thing and making sure we are going to be cost effective and not go over budget of course." Highlights of the plan include a reception for former dignitaries, family carnival in Muskoseepi park, big ticket concert at the Crystal Centre, bathtub races, and a hot air balloon event.
The homecoming is slated for the 2014 August long weekend. Most Viewed Stories
