NewsArctic Winter Games Officially OpenedA sold out audience welcomed over 2000 Athletes to the 2010 Arctic Winter Games Sunday night at the Canada Games Arena in Grande Prairie. With athletes and cultural participants from Russia, Greenland, Iceland, Sweden, Finland, Norway, Alaska, Yukon, Nunavut, North West Territories, Northern Quebec and Northern Alberta, the participants were treated to an exciting opening ceremonies that featured a Hero's Journey. The event paid tribute to ancient circumpolar traditions while celebrating multiculturalism of todays north. The evening culminated with the lighting of the Arctic Winter Games Cauldron in the Canada Games Arena and then later the official Cauldron was lit at Atco Place in Muskoseepi Park. Tickets are available for all sporting events and the Closing Ceremonies at the Crystal Centre Box Office.
