NewsTurn around day at Alberta Summer GamesPeace region athletes won 18 more medals yesterday at the Alberta Summer Games in Peace River and surrounding communities. Among the highlights, Grande Prairie's Chanel Hauck claimed her second canoeing gold medal, taking top spot in the 11-14 C-1 Slalom event. She also joined McKoy Hauck and Sarah Kerestes to win silver in the 11-14 Mixed slalom team race. Kale Gilfillan won his second silver medal, this time in U-17 boys high jump. And Amanda Leblanc of Woking won three medals yesterday in canoeing and kayaking, a silver and two bronze. Today is turn around day, which means phase one athletes will depart, to be replaced later in the day with participants in phase two of the games. Zone 8 has won 5 gold, 7 silver and 12 bronze through 2 days of competition.
