Skateboard Plaza Moves To Construction Phase
Construction is expected to start next month on a new skateboard plaza adjacent to the Eastlink Centre.
Skate boarders and other members of the public were able to look at base concept drawings for the project during an open house last month, and suggest possible changes.
City Recreation and Sport Manager Kylee Haining says that resulted in some minor tweaks to the original design.
"Things like when we come up to this slope, we would like to have somewhere that we can stand, so that we can stop and stand instead of just going up and down, so they added a ledge. Those kinds of things, or on the stairwell that is there, do you think you can put in a railing."
The concrete plaza, which has a budget of 190 thousand dollars, is expected to be open by August.
