Study after study has shown that starting the day with a healthy breakfast is very important to kids.

But a recent poll shows 51-percent of Canadian families say the greatest barrier to having that nutritious meal before they head out the door is a lack of time.

In an effort to encourage a return to good habits ahead of the kids heading back to school, Public Health dietician Danielle Wohlgemuth says there are some solutions to coping with that time crunch.

"[Parents should think about] a breakfast that's going to be fairly quick and easy to prepare-perhaps doing as much as possible to prepare the night before in terms of planning out  that breakfast."

In dealing with picky eaters, Wohlgemuth says involving your kinds in that breakfast and lunch planning--as well as the preparation you do--can encourage healthy choices and better eating habits.
