NewsMuseum Supporters Still Hoping For Federal Support
Tuesday, July 31, 2012 - 3:08 PM The Executive Director of the Pipestone Creek Dinosaur Initiative is still optimistic that the federal government will come on board as the final funding partner for the Philip J Currie dinosaur museum. Peace River M-P Chris Warkentin says there are currently no federal programs in place to provide capital funding for local museum projects. But Brian Brake thinks their project is more than just a local museum. "With Dr. Currie, and engaging him as the namesake and also having him bring in international paleontologists from all over the world here to work on our bonebeds, we think that the interest in this project is much further than a local one."
The PCDI Society will meet this Thursday night to discuss the next steps for the museum, after Saturday's confirmation by the provincial government that they would provide one-third of the funding for the project. Most Viewed Stories
