Around 500 Rotarians from Northern Alberta, BC, Saskatchewan and the Northwest territories will be in our city this weekend for the annual District 5370 conference.

It's the first time our city has hosted this gathering since 1958.

And district governor Kevin Hilgers says one of the highlights will be the countless networking opportunities for those at the conference.

"They want to find out how to do what they do even better.  They will be comparing ideas, comparing success stories, they will be finding new things to do to better their communities as well.  We will be there to learn and pick up leadership skills as well."

There will also be a number of special guests, including the past mayor and the Rotary governor from Mazatlan, as well as Rotarians from Japan.

The keynote speaker for the conference - which begins this Friday at Evergreen Park - is former Prime minister Joe Clark.
