School Reconstruction Projects Well Underway
As kindergarten enrollment rates skyrocket, the Grande Prairie Catholic School Division is taking steps to make sure they have enough classroom space for this year.
Saint mary's in Sexsmith, as well as Mother Teresa and Kateri Mission here in the city, are having some extra modular classrooms added to them.
Karl Germann, Superintendent with the Catholic Division, says work has moved fairly smoothly so far.
"Its been a nice summer, so we have been able to keep our projects on target as best as we can. It's knd of fast to get anything done so you almost want to try and challenge somebody to build a house in seven weeks, because that's basically what we are doing with a few of these projects. You come out at the end of June, and by the 3rd or 4th week of August you wanna try and have everything done. So it's been a bit of a challenge to get all of the work done, but we are getting there."
They want to have everything done by the time school starts up next month says Germann.
Work at Saint Mary's has already wrapped up, and Kateri Mission is also expected to be finished on schedule, with things at Mother Teresa expected to be done a week or two into the school year.
