A recent tour of the region served by the Peace River and its tributaries by members of the Watershed Alliance really opened the eyes of some members to the scope of the planning they're attempting to do.

City councilor Dan Wong is on the M-P-W-A board: He says in two days of travelling they covered about one-third of the area served by the watershed.

Some fall community sessions are being planned to gather input from area stakeholders.

"This is the  important part where we do have to get feed back from everyone. Everyone from industry to farmers to First Nations and Metis settlements that all have access to the water and [find out] what their requirements are going to be in the future."

Wong says the Alliance has a big job to lay the foundation for some future planning for the Peace watershed, and figuring out how to do it on a budget that's the same as other regions with smaller areas to cover.
