NewsCity Receives Update On Plans For OSB Research Centre
Plans for a research and development centre for OSB in the Peace Country are going on the back-burner. OSB is an engineered wood-product . The Centre for Research and Innovation brought the concept to the committee level earlier this year, and while the concept remains feasible, the 12-million dollar pricetag makes the start up a little tougher. CRI Director Dr. Bruce Rutley says they'll have to wait to access federal funding for what's considered a large project. But there's work they can do in the meantime. "There is some additional dilligence that we need to do, additional questions that we need to have answered, and one of the biggest challenges currently is that we have one customer identified but we haven't be able yet to identify any additional customers."
Rutley says while the support from members of council and the opportunity remains solid, but the project needs a "champion" to pull partners together and move it forward. Most Viewed Stories
