Rugby Hits 30 In Grande Prairie

This year marks a special anniversary for rugby in the Swan City.

It was 30 years ago that the Centaurs men's team first took to the field.

The commemorate the anniversary, the organization has re-branded itself, calling themselves the Grande Prairie Rugby club.

Vice president of Rugby Development Dave Logan says it represents the incredible growth of the sport in our city over the last 3 decades.

"Increased membership enrollment for our men's and women's programs, a junior program that now includes five high schools in the regional area as well as three women's programs in the local high schools. We are really seeing some positive growth."

Celebrations surrounding the anniversary begin this Saturday night with a benefit dinner at Earl's.

It's 30 dollars to attend, with tickets available at Epic Mortgage solutions.
