NewsCars For Christmas Lottery Invests Back Into Community
Through the generousity of local residents, last year's Cars for Christmas lottery was able to put 233 thousand dollars back into the community. Cheque presentations were made today to 13 organizations that helped sell tickets during the lottery. One of those groups were the Wapiti Meadows District Girl Guides. Deputy District Comissioner Teri Ondrik says they will use the five thousand dollars they received through the lottery to build a private campsite for local girl guide members. "So that we can go camping with them on a safe location without having general public and stuff like that interacting with them. Our goal right now is to buy a piece of property and we are going to set up a camping shelter so that they can either sleep inside or sleep outside in tents. We also want a cooks hed, bathrooms, things like that."
Ondrik adds the money will also be used on camping programs for girls that can not afford sleeping bags, back packs and other camping needs. Similar StoriesMost Viewed Stories
