A significant firebreak in the Dunes Recreation Area between Evergreen Park and Aspen Ridge will be completed in the near future.
The County approved a tender yesterday to have 300 hectares of pine beetle infested trees removed from the area.
The logs will head off to Weyerhaeuser, who had previously agreed to purchase them.
The project is seen as a step in reducing the fire risk in the Dunes area.
Further steps in the Firesmart Logging project will be funded by a grant from the province.
