The first week of school was not a good one for drivers in Grande Prairie:
Enforcement Services wrote 183 speeding tickets and handed out 46 school zone parking violations.
The numbers are about the same as last year, but for Sergeant Gord McMahon Services, "par" is not a good score.
McMahon says when officers tap on the window and hand drivers their tickets, the reaction is one of resignation with people saying they weren't paying attention.
The top speeder earned a 228-dollar fine for going more that double the 30-kilometre per hour speed limit.
