Ground Broken For County Sportsplex

Tuesday, September 6, 2011 - 2:50 PM

Come next year, the County of Grande Prairie hopes to be running indoor soccer and hockey games at their new Sportsplex.

There will be twin ice rinks, a half-sized indoor soccer pitch, office and retail space as well as plans for outdoor fields.

County Reeve Everett McDonald says the new facility won't be just for the sports fans, but it will also be a place for people to meet and chat.

But, it is a sports centre and McDonald expects to see the new field and ice rinks put to use pretty soon.

The Sportsplex will be the biggest project the County has taken on and will cost about $29-million-dollars.
