Over the next few days the final steps will be taken to vacate Anderson Hall, the 27-year old student residence at GPRC.
The college's Board Of Governors approved a move to demolish the building: President and CEO Don Gnatiuk says the high maintenance costs, coupled with some needed--and costly--renovations meant keeping the building didn't make sense financially.
The building is slated to come down in mid-October.
Gnatiuk says the loss of some 190-beds is easily absorbed by other student housing, but the college will need to explore expanding that capacity down the road.
Also, the college is looking for suggestions in how to honour Dr. Henry Anderson, GPRC's first president.
The residence was named in recognition of his contribution to the college.
