Local residents are being asked to stay safe this Labour day weekend.
The request comes from Jamey Myers, the Clinical Operations Manager with the STARS Air Ambulance base in Grande Prairie.
He says they are preparing for what they expect will be another busy long weekend for them.
"The weather is supposed to be very nice, so we expect that people will be out and about, and we just ask that they remain cognizant to be safe. We are here if they need us, but we really hope that we are not utilized again this long weekend."
After seeing a 30 percent increase in mission requests between 2009 and 2011, Myers says they are on pace for another increase in 2012.
