The Grande Prairie Drillers' new look running game was a huge success in their 44-34 AFL Quarterfinal win over the Central Alberta Buccaneers.

All five Drillers touchdowns were scored on the ground. Drillers quarterback Nathan Aldred says the two fullback package of Brendan Urness and Cam White was introduced because the club was missing several key receivers on Saturday night.

"[Guys like] Simon Pfau. It's been a struggle not having Brent Fulmek this year as well so we've kinda had to adapt to that. We established a running game so our passing game opened up underneath."

Next up in the semi finals, which will see the Drillers visit the Calgary Wolfpack on August 11th.
