Some good news from Grande Prairie Boys Choirs; they won both provincials and most recently nationals for male vocal choir.

Jeannie Pernal, who founded and directs the choirs, says it was too expensive to gather all the choirs in one place, so they all made recordings and sent them to the judges.

"You get one chance at it.  So they bring in judges and you have to bring in a recording equipment, and you are only allowed one microphone.  You can't add reverb, you can't play with the recording at all.  And the judges sit in the room and you make one recording, so you can't doctor the recording, you can't even listen to it.  You burn the CD right in from of them and they send it off."

She says the boys, who have typically been in choir with each other for 10 or more years, were very excited to win the competition.

G-P Boys Choirs offers vocal training for boys from ages 7 to 20.
