There is a lot of excitement these days surrounding the Grande Prairie chapter of the Parkinson Alberta Society.

The group now has office room - a shared space in the Cooperators building with the local branch of the M-S Society - and a part time staff member.

She is Sherry Theuerkauf, who serves as Client Services co-ordinator.

She expects the new office space will allow them the opportunity to provide education regarding Parkinson's disease.

"There has never been an office here before, so our volunteer base is really excited that they now have a person available, that they can offer my phone number to people that they know that might be interested in getting further support."

Theuerkauf also expects the number of people accessing their services will increase thanks to an office now being in place.

There is also a Parkinson Alberta P-D Help line that people can access by calling 1-877-243-9992.
