A 21 year city man is in custody, after an early morning pursuit by police started in the Highland Park neighbourhood and ended near the college.

A little before 2 am, RCMP were told about a truck that was stolen from an area near 96th street and 88th avenue.

A truck matching the description was seen a short distance away.

But the driver failed to stop, leading police on a brief chase that ended with the truck hitting a power pole at the corner of 105th street and 104th avenue.

A suspect tried to run from the scene but was caught by police.

Charges include theft of a motor vehicle, dangerous driving, flight from police and resisting arrest.

No name has been released, and no court date has been announced.
